The All Parties Hurriyat Conference on Monday proposed a ceasefire between all parties involved in the Kashmir conflict and urged India and Pakistan to resume talks to reduce tension in the Valley.
"All parties should call a ceasefire to create a political climate for permanent resolution of the Kashmir problem," APHC chairman Prof Abdul Gani Bhat told reporters at the Hurriyat headquarters in Srinagar.
He also pleaded resumption of dialogue between India, Pakistan and the true representatives of people of Kashmir to resolve the 53-year-old dispute within a time-frame.
"Let all parties put their heads together to resolve the issue. The solution must be permanent, honourable and durable," he said.
Prof Bhat said post-September 11 developments have pushed Kashmir into international focus as resolution of conflict areas like Kashmir and Palestine top the agenda of the global coalition against terrorism.
