The Centre's interlocutor K C Pant Tuesday asked the Hurriyat Conference to accept the advice of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and enter into a meaningful dialogue even as he met Kashmiri separatist leader Shabir Shah in Srinagar.
''Hurriyat should respond to the advice of the prime minister,'' Pant told reporters after holding a series of meetings on the second-day of his visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
He was replying to questions by media on Vajpayee's statement asking the 23-party conglomerate to enter into talks with Pant before his meeting with Pakistan military ruler General Pervez Musharraf.
However, he refused to extend any fresh invitation to the Hurriyat for talks.
The Hurriyat on its part pressed for its inclusion in the proposed Indo-Pak dialogue and said that if its demand was not met a solution to the Kashmir issue would remain elusive.
"We call upon heads of governments of India and Pakistan to include the Hurriyat in the summit as it will brighten the chances of the resolution of the issue, " the Hurriyat said in a statement after its executive council meeting.
