Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha member and former cricketer Kirti Azad was arrested in Darbhanga, Bihar on Wednesday on charges of leading a mob which locked a Bihar State Electricity Board's general manager-cum-chief engineer in his office and misbehaved with him.
Sub-Divisional Officer (Sadar) Raghunath Prasad said nearly 500 people, demanding regular power supply to the district town, locked the office of Arun Kumar Pathak and misbehaved with him. He said the mob also held a demonstration before the office.
Prasad said besides Azad, BJP town president Sanjay Kumar Saraogi and former BJP district president Jagdish Shah had been arrested.
They were later released on furnishing personal bonds, the sources said.
Azad told PTI on phone from Darbhanga that his party supporters gheraoed the local electricity office demanding uninterrupted power supply.
He threatened to take recourse to agitation if the power supply was not improved.
