Of the 26 Bharatiya Janata Party legislators in the sixty-member House, Higher Education Minister Haobam Bhuban Singh voted in favour of the motion while 24 members opposed it. BJP legislature party leader R K Dorendra Singh abstained.

The 39 legislators who opposed the trust vote were: BJP (24), Manipur State Congress Party, Chaoba faction (10), Nationalist Congress Party (2), Federal Party of Manipur (2) and Janata Dal, Loken faction (1).

The 17 members who supported the motion were Samata Party (13), BJP (1), Manipur State Congress Party, Nipamacha Singh faction (1), Manipur People's Party (1) and Independent (1).

After a debate on the motion of confidence, the speaker asked members to vote, asking in turn those who supported the motion to raise their hands and then those who did not. The assembly's secretary counted the hands.

The speaker then announced that 39 members had opposed the motion while 17 had supported it and adjourned the house sine die.

Dorendra Singh was not present in the House at the time of voting, though he was present during the discussion on the trust motion.

The lone Congress member in the House, former chief minister Rishang Keishing, abstained from voting.

Of the 60 members, former agriculture minister Thangminlien Kipgen was debarred from voting following disqualification from membership of the House.

Altogether 58 members, including the speaker, were present at the time of voting.
