Former DMK minister expelled for anti-party activities

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagan on Saturday one of its former ministers V Mullaivendan from its primary membership for anti-party activities.

DMK general secretary K Anbazhagan said the action was taken against Mullaivendan for working against the party nominees in the recent elections to the Tamil Nadu assembly.

Mullaivendan, information minister in Karunanidhi's cabinet, was asked to resign from the ministership in March after he was suspected to be behind the attack on a Hindu Religious Charitable Endowments Department Official at Krishnagiri.

The official had reportedly refused to give the lease of some temple land to the minister's friend.
