Curfew imposed in MP town

A place of worship was ransacked and members of two communities clashed in Manasa town of Madhya Pradesh, prompting authorities to impose curfew, police said.

Trouble began when people ransacked a place of worship belonging to another community Thursday evening and infuriated over the incident, the other group went on a rampage, damaging shops and property.

Additional police reinforcements and Rapid Action Force jawans were deployed to bring the situation under control, police said.

Curfew was relaxed for six hours on Friday afternoon following no fresh violence since late Thursday night.
