A single-seater British aircraft made an emergency landing at Sanganer airport on Thursday, after reported missing for five hours.
The private aircraft, registered in Britain as GKRIK, landed at the airport at 1745 hours, after remaining untracked since 1235 hours, Director, Airport Authority of India, Ishwari Prasad said.
The plane was one of 40 participants in an international rally between London and Sydney. It was on way to Delhi from Karachi, when it developed communication and navigational snags.
The flight information centre at Palam in Delhi alerted Sangener airport around 1335 hours that the plane required landing facilities due to fuel shortage.
When the plane failed to come in contact with the air traffic control, a statewide hunt was launched to trace the plane. Although the landing was rescheduled at 1453 hours, there was no trace of it till 1630 hours.
The plane finally landed under emergency conditions at 1745 hours.
Prakash said the plane, after developing communication and navigational snags, lost its way over the Thar desert.
The plane is likely to resume its onward journey after its snags are rectified.
