TMC executive recommends Chidambaram's suspension

The executive committee of the TMC on Wednesday recommended the suspension of former Union finance minister P Chidambaram from the party for floating the TMC Democratic Forum in protest against the party allying with the AIADMK for the Tamil Nadu assembly elections.

A resolution to this effect was passed at an emergency meeting of the party's executive which met in Madras, K S Alagiri, TMC Political Affairs Committee member, told reporters.

He said some of the party members had even demanded that Chidambaram be removed from the primary membership of the party.

The final decision on the resolution recommending Chidambaram's suspension would be taken by TMC president G K Moopanar, he said.

Outside the meeting venue, large number of party supporters shouted slogans demanding Chidambaram's 'removal' from the party.
