Ajit Dewani, secretary to Bollywood stars Manisha Koirala and Aftab Shivdasani, was on Saturday shot dead at his office in Oshiwara in north west Bombay.
Some unidentified persons barged into the office of Dewani and fired at him, police said.
Dewani died on the spot.
Senior police officials have rushed to the spot at Dewani's Oshiwara office, police added.
