16 killed in Bihar road accident

At least 16 persons, including seven children and four women were killed when the truck carrying them plunged into the Kab river near Jamuhar village in Rohtas district on Saturday, the police said.

Fifteen persons were wounded and nearly 20 missing, the police added.

Police said the deceased were tribals from the Ranchi district of Jharkhand who were returning home from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh.

The death toll might rise further, the sources said adding divers were searching for more survivors and bodies in the river.

Fifteen persons were rescued by the locals and were hospitalised. The truck was still submerged in the river and strong currents were hindering rescue efforts, sources said.
