J&K Congress ex-MP survives
militant attack in Sopore

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Ghulam Rasool Kar, a prominent Congress leader, a former minister and ex- MP, escaped unhurt in a militant attack at Sopore in northern Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday afternoon.

Police sources told rediff.com that the militants opened fire on Kar as soon as he came out of a mosque after offering prayers.

In the ensuing gunfight, Kar's personnel security officer received serious bullet injuries and was shifted to a Srinagar hospital in critical condition.
