Pulwama SP escapes bid on life,
10 killed in Kashmir

A senior police officer survived a militant attack, which left his security guard dead and three others wounded in south Kashmir, while the operation launched by the army in Gurez sector of Baramulla district continued for the second successive day on Wednesday resulting in the killing of one more Pakistani infiltrator.

An official spokesman said a group of heavily-armed militants ambushed a police party led by Superintendent of Police (Operations) Mukesh Sing at Kellar in Pulwama district on Wednesday killing a cop and wounding three others.

The police party retaliated but the militants escaped after the ambush, the spokesman said.

Elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir, a BSF jawan was killed and another seriously injured when militants detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) targeting a road opening function of the BSF at Zagam in Pattan area of Baramulla district on Wednesday, he said.

The spokesman said earlier in the day, the army shot dead an unidentified militant in nearby Rajpora village of Pattan.
