Sachin's brother attacked, three arrested

Cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar's elder brother, a former club cricketer himself, was attacked by three youths at his residence in suburban Bandra, northwest Bombay, on Tuesday, police said.

One of the youths approached Ajit Tendulkar, who now coaches youngsters, at his residence at Sahitya Sahavas at Kala Nagar, urging him to secure entry for them into the MIG Cricket Club.

Tendulkar explained that he was not in charge of taking decisions relating to entry into the club and tried to close the door.

But the youth, along with two associates, forcibly pushed open the door and barged in.

In the ensuing tussle, Tendulkar sustained minor injuries on his leg. But he managed to free himself and ran out the door, shutting it behind him and trapping two of the attackers inside, police said.

He and the neighbours then caught the third youth who was outside. All three have been arrested.
