13 electrocuted in Bihar

At least 13 persons, most of them children, were electrocuted when they came in contact with a 11000 kv high-tension electric transmission wire at village Gopalpur in Patna district on Monday, police said.

Senior police superintendent, Patna, Sunil Kumar said that an overhead electric wire snapped when a truck rammed into a roadside pole and overturned on the Gaya-Patna road near Sampatchak village.

Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Laloo Prasad Yadav accompanied by some state ministers visited the spot soon after receiving information about the accident.

Yadav said the state government would inquire into the incident and the guilty would not be spared.

He said the state government would provide adequate compensation to the family members of the victims. The former chief minister also handed over cheques of Rs 135,000 each as compensation to the dependents of each of the deceased.

State Energy Minister Shyam Rajak said bodies of eleven had already been identified and handed over to the bereaved families.
