A ruling National Conference politician, his son and two police guards were injured in an attack by militants while three Pakistani intruders, a soldier and a militant were killed in Jammu & Kashmir since Saturday night, an official spokesman said in Srinagar.
Militants hurled a grenade into the house of NC block president Ghulam Nabi Hakeem at Village Pusal in Pulwama district of south Kashmir on Saturday night.
The grenade exploded, wounding Hakeem, his son Aijaz Ahmad and two personal security officers provided by the state government, Constable Bashir Ahmad and Manzoor Ahmad of the state police, the spokesman said.
No extremist outfit has owned responsibility for the attack so far.
Meanwhile, security forces shot dead three Pakistani intruders in Kanachak sector of Jammu and recovered three rockets and some ammunition hidden underground in Bathindi area of Jammu on Saturday night, he said.
A foreign terrorist and a jawan were killed while another jawan was wounded in a gun battle at Fatehpur in Rajouri district of Jammu on Saturday night. A rifle and two grenades were recovered from the slain terrorist.
Militants set ablaze six houses belonging to the majority community and targeted the Special Operations Groups of the local police at two places, even as security forces arrested four persons and recovered a big haul of arms and ammunition, including 50 kilos of explosives, in the state.
