Convicted bomb-maker Inderjit Singh Reyat Wednesday refused to appear in the B C Supreme Court, claiming that he did not recognise the court's jurisdiction to try him for the Air-India Kanishka bombing.
Reyat waited downstairs, as his lawyer, Kuldip Chaggar, told the judge that he believed his arrest was 'contrary to international law'.
Chaggar sought the matter to be adjourned.
Justice Ian Josephson, however, said Reyat could argue later about the court's jurisdiction and ordered him to be brought into the court.
The matter was adjourned till June 15, when he will appear with two co-accused in the June 23, 1985 bombing.
Reyat was then remanded to custody.
Reyat faces seven charges, including murder, attempted murder and conspiracy in the 1985 downing of the airliner off the Irish coast and an almost simultaneous explosion at Tokyo's Narita airport.
