Militants on Friday made an abortive bid to blow up the Srinagar police headquarters by planting an improvised explosive device and three grenades inside the building, official sources said.
They said the IED, which was kept in a thermos, and the three grenades were promptly detected and defused by alert policemen, averting a possible tragedy.
