Blast in Mushkoh valley kills four soldiers

Four army personnel were killed and nine injured in a powerful explosion in Mushkoh valley of Kargil, official sources said Thursday.

They said the blast took place on Tuesday night when an Army column was patrolling the area.

Although the cause of the blast was not known immediately, the sources said it might have been caused by a "live shell" left behind after the Kargil war of 1999.

However, they did not rule out militants' hand in the explosion. An investigation into the incident has been ordered.
