The copter carrying Anantnag Inspector General of Police Ashok Kumar Gupta, Senior Superintendent of Police Munir Khan and Anantnag Deputy Commissioner G A Peer, crash-landed near the 3,880 metre high cave after it developed a 'technical snag', they said.
While Gupta and Peer escaped unhurt, Khan received minor injuries in his legs, the sources added.
The three officials had gone to the cave shrine to take stock of the arrangements in connection with the Amarnath yatra, which commenced on July 2, they said.
Meanwhile, army troops foiled militants' plan to disrupt the Amarnath yatra by recovering a huge cache of arms and explosives near Gurwatan village in Anantnag district, a defence spokesman said in Jammu on Saturday.
The explosives and rockets, recovered on July five during an operation launched at suspected terrorists hideouts across the Pir Panjal range, were intended to be taken to Banihal for disrupting the Amarnath yatra, he said.
Security arrangements had been beefed up along the highway from Jammu to Srinagar, which is used by the Amarnath-bound pilgrims, the spokesman said.
He said the recoveries included a disposable rocket launcher with 10 rockets, 12 kgs of lethal explosives, ten remote control boxes, eight detonators and 10 rifle grenades.
