Judicial custody of Shah, Rizvi extended

A special court on Friday extended the judicial remand of film financier Bharat Shah and film producer Nasim Rizvi till July 9.

The court, however, deferred Shah's plea for medical check up in a private hospital until July 9.

The court also extended the custody of Rizvi's assistant, Abdul Rahim Allah Baksh.

Rizvi, Shah and Baksh have been charged with having a nexus with the underworld to target film personalities for personal gains.

Earlier, in keeping with the order of designated judge A P Bhangale, the dean of J J Hospital Dr V R Bhutada filed a medical report stating that Bharat Shah did not show any abnormality and that his vital parameters were normal.

The doctor said Shah was admitted to the hospital on June 21 after he complained of uneasiness. He was subjected to various tests and the results were normal.

Shah had, however, refused to undergo angiogram tests because his family doctor had raised questions about the facilities at hospital.

The dean said J J Hospital performed about 3500 angiogram tests per year, which was the highest in the city.
