Eight MCC men hacked to death in Jharkhand

Eight persons, believed to be supporters of the outlawed Maoist Communist Centre, were hacked to death by armed ultras of the Sangharsh Jana Mukti Morcha near Nawadih village of Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district on Thursday night, police said.

The assailants, armed with crude arms, dragged out five persons from their houses in Nawadih village and killed them, the police said.

Three others were killed on the bank of river Latkhurwa by the same group some time later.

The massacre has been attributed to rivalry between SJMM and MCC.

Director General of Police T P Sinha said a combing operation has been launched in the area to nab the culprits.

Chief Minister Babulal Marandi has convened a meeting of senior officials on Saturday to take stock of the situation.
