Two militants arrested in Delhi,
blast bid foiled

Delhi police foiled an attempt by Pakistani militants to carry out blasts in the national capital with the arrest of two militants and seized 1.9 kg of RDX from them.

Police said the two militants, identified as Shabir Ahmed alias Sher Khan and Mohammad Razaq Mallik alias Bashir belonging to the Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islamia (HuJI) militant outfit, were arrested from the Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) on Thursday night following a tip off from the Intelligence Bureau.

One pencil timer, one detonator and a battery was also recovered from the militants who confessed during interrogation that they had been asked to carry out blasts by HuJI chief Illiyas Kashmiri, police said.

The militants had crossed over to Jammu through the Sialkot border on June 23 and stored the explosive materials before proceeding to Delhi on June 26 posing as businessmen.

After a survey the city, they went back to Jammu to bring the explosives.

The two militants were responsible for carrying out as many as four operations against the army in Surankote in Poonch district.
