Babulal Singaria, a Congress legislator in Rajasthan who was arrested on Saturday for allegedly assaulting two police officers, has been suspended from the party, a Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman said in Jaipur on Sunday.
Singaria, who represents the Kekari assembly constituency, has been suspended from both the Congress Legislative Party and the party's primary membership, the spokesman said, adding that a three-member committee had been constituted to inquire into the incident.
Singaria was taken into custody after he allegedly slapped Superintendent of Police Alok Tripathi and tore the clothes of Additional Superintendent of Police Vasudev Bhatt inside the district collectorate in Ajmer.
He was later released on bail, sources said.
