Qureshi shifted to DDU hospital
following chest pain

"We shifted him to the Deen Dayal Hospital on Tuesday night after he complained of pain in the chest," Director General of the high security jail Ajay Aggarwal said on Wednesday.

He, however, said Qureshi's condition was not serious though his counsel Vikas Pahwa complained that adequate medical facilities were not provided to him.

Pahwa said that despite instruction by the duty magistrate on December 29 to provide such facilities, these were denied to Qureshi though he is a heart patient.

Pahwa had moved an application on behalf of Qureshi on Tuesday itself after which a local court had asked Tihar jail authorities to furnish their reply by Wednesday.

The application alleged that despite oral direction by the court on December 29 that the medicines seized from Qureshi should be given back if the doctor considered it appropriate at the time of medical check up, it was not done.

Qureshi, who arrived in New Delhi on Friday last and was subsequently arrested, has been remanded to judicial custody till January 11.
