JJSF bandh hits normal life in Jammu

The Jammu bandh, called by the Jammu Joint Students Federation, to protest against the failure of the police to trace a missing girl from Udhampur district, affected normal life in the city on Friday.

All business establishments, shopping complexes and market places remained closed and vehicular traffic was off the roads.

Traffic on the national highway was also blocked at Samba and Vijaypur and there were reports of thin attendance in government offices, schools and banks.

However, there were no reports of violence from anywhere, official sources said.

The JJSF submitted a memorandum to Governor Girish Chander Saxena demanding dismissal of the Farooq Abdullah government and the re-organisation of the state with a separate state for Jammu.

Meenakshi, a teenaged girl, has been missing since last Saturday from Udhampur.
