Hurriyat leaders meet Pak
High Commissioner: PTI

Three senior Hurriyat leaders, including former chairman Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, met Pakistan High Commissioner Qazi Ashraf Jehangir and discussed their proposed visit to Islamabad as a sequel to peace initiatives launched by India and Pakistan.

Besides Umer, the delegation comprised Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Yaseen Malik and Abdul Gani Lone, who visited Qazi on Thursday evening.

Confirming the visit, a Hurriyat spokesman in Delhi said the three visited the Pakistani High Commission and discussed the situation with High Commissioner Qazi Ashraf Jehangir.

The spokesman termed the meeting as routine.

The three, considered moderates within the amalgam executive of seven members, were closeted with Qazi for over two hours, Hurriyat sources said.

It was not clear as to what transpired during the meeting and all the three who attended the discussion were unavailable for comments.

The meeting comes close on the heels of firebrand Jamaat-e-Islami leader and senior Hurriyat executive member Syed Ali Shah Geelani, considered close to the Pakistani Government, holding two marathon sessions with Qazi.
