Pakistani troops resorted to mortar shelling and heavy small arms firing on Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in several areas of Ladakh and Jammu-Poonch sectors while saboteurs triggered 34 IED explosions along the border, official sources said in Jammu on Saturday.

The Indian troops guarding Indo-Pak border returned the fire, which began on Friday night, and the exchange of fire continued till Saturday afternoon, the sources said.

Meanwhile, Pakistani saboteurs triggered 34 IED explosions in Pindi-Pittal area in Ranbir Singh Pura along the international border on the Zero Line in R S Pura of Jammu frontier on Friday night, the sources said.

However, no casualty was reported, they said.

With this, a total of 64 blasts have rocked the international border since Thursday night when thirty blasts had rocked Beli Azmat-Razwor areas along the international border of Akhnoor belt of Jammu district.

The Friday night blasts occurred in brief intervals one after another, triggering panic in border villages, the sources said.

Villagers ran for safety to nearby villages and returned only after the blasts ended.

The blasts are aimed at triggering panic among people and push armed militants into Jammu, the sources said.
