Four militants among seven killed in Sopore encounter

Four militants were killed in a joint operation by the army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Jammu and Kashmir police in a village near Sopore town of Baramulla district on Saturday, a defence spokesman said.

The militants were killed after a fierce encounter, which broke out at Krankishivan village immediately after the joint troops laid a cordon around a suspected militant hideout to flush out the hiding ultras, the spokesman said.

The operation was still continuing, he said.
