All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman Professor Abdul Gani Bhat on Monday categorically rejected suggestions that "a dialogue with New Delhi can be held at an individual level by any of the Hurriyat constituents".
Reacting to reports that some of the APHC leaders might be engaged in parleys with New Delhi, Prof Bhat said, "Kashmir is a trilateral dispute concerning the destiny of 12 million people and there is no question of any individual give and take."
"I don't think individual contacts will mean anything unless the Hurriyat executive authorises any individual to do it. When such an issue comes up we will discuss it."
Reports from New Delhi had suggested that the Centre had decided to talk to the APHC and had formed a core group to be headed by K C Pant. Reports had said that the core group would comprise of an official from the Prime Ministers Office and senior intelligence officials.
"There is no core group. There are no talks," Prof Bhat said.
He said the Hurriyat favoured a comprehensive , collective and result-oriented dialogue with India and Pakistan. "We want a peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue."
