Four villagers, five militants killed in Jammu

Four abducted Hindu villagers and five militants were among ten persons killed in the remote village of Kinara in Nowshahra sector of Rajouri district in Jammu region on Friday afternoon.

The police added that one army soldier was killed and three others received serious injuries in the gunbattle with militants in Kinara.

Sources said militants had abducted six Hindu villagers from near Kinara on Thursday.

However, two villagers identified by the police as Raj Kumar and Harjeet Singh managed to escape this morning and they informed the administration immediately about the kidnapping.

The bodies of the four abducted villagers were identified as Vijay Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Dileep Kumar and Bal Krishan.

Army troops were immediately rushed to the forest area of Kinara and a massive hunt was mounted.

During the searches the troops came under fire resulting in death of an armyman, while three soldiers received injuries.
