Lashkar claims hand in Poonch attack,
to intensify attacks

Binoo Joshi in Jammu

The Lashkar-e-Tayiba on Friday owned responsibility for Thursday's attack on a police station in Poonch in which six policemen were killed, and threatened to launch more such strikes.

"This is our revenge for the raids that have been conducted at our Karachi network by Pakistani security forces," its spokesman Abu Osama said.

Asked what India had to do with the crackdown in Pakistan, Abu Osama said: "We think India has tried to impose its agenda on the Pakistani government and got our offices raided."

He said Thursday's attack on the police station was carried out by two of its activists.
