No proposal under consideration to grant special powers to J&K

The Centre would be willing to consider granting 'greater powers' to Jammu and Kashmir if the state government feels such powers would enable it to serve the people better, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

However, there is no proposal under consideration at present to grant special powers to the state, Minister of State for Home Vidyasagar Rao said in a written reply.

Though the resolution passed by the J&K assembly has not been accepted, the Centre would be willing to consider issues, if any, on which the state government feels it should be conferred with greater powers to be able to serve the people better, he said.
