More file nomination papers in TN

Tamil Nadu Janata Party president and former IAS officer V S Chandralekha Friday filed nomination papers for Andipatti assembly constituency, where she will face AIADMK supremo J Jayalalitha as filing of papers picked up in the state with two days left for the exercise to end for the May 10 assembly polls.

AIADMK bigwig Sulochana Sampath filed her papers for T Nagar in Madras, Dalavai Sundaram for Kanyakumari and Communist Party of India leader D Pandiyan for Harbour constituency in Madras.

Other prominent leaders to file their papers were BJP state unit president Dr S P Kirubanidhi at Maanamadurai, state ministers T Kiruttinan in Sivaganga and Jennifer Chandran in Tiruchendur, and former AIADMK minister and now president of the MGR Kazhagam, R M Veerappan, in suburban Alandur constituency.

In Pondicherry, former chief minister R V Janakiraman (DMK) filed his nomination from Nellithope for his fifth contest.

Eighteen candidates filed their papers in the union territory on Friday.
