Sixteen injured in grenade explosion

At least 16 people were injured in a powerful grenade explosion in Baramulla district in north Kashmir on Friday, official sources said.

Militants lobbed the grenade towards a moving security vehicle at Bandipora Bazar at around 1130 hours, sources said.

The grenade fell short of the target and exploded causing injuries to sixteen pedestrians, including two women.

The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Four of them were discharged after first aid.

No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the blast.
