E-Mail this report to a friend

Union Civil Aviation Minister Sharad Yadav will lay the foundation of an international airport at Bodh Gaya on September 6, 2000. This was stated by Bihar Tourism Minister Madhav Lal Singh in Patna on Sunday.

Claiming that tourism would emerge as a major source of revenue generation and creation of infrastructure in the state after creation of Jharkhand, Singh said that an international airport at Bodh Gaya would attract foreign tourists, particularly from South Asian and South East Asian countries in larger numbers. He said the Union civil aviation ministry had sanctioned Rs 185 million for the project.

He said construction work of tourist complexes would also start at Dhanbad, Urba, Tilaiya, Barhi and Munger at the cost of nearly Rs 20 million.

The tourism minister said beautification and development work of the famous gol ghar in Patna would be completed in the current financial year itself. He said besides the state government's financial support for this task, Rajya Sabha member Ranjan Prasad Yadav had also provided Rs 5 million from his voluntary fund. He said efforts were underway to beautify banks of the Ganga.
