Khan himself was seriously injured and rushed to hospital late in the night, where he succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident so far.

In another incident, militants opened fire on the Special Operations Group camped at Kunzar in Baramullah district, resulting in serious injury to a police constable. The constable was rushed to the hospital where his condition was stated to be serious.
