Congress to continue alliance with AIADMK

Tamil Nadu Congress president E V K S Elangovan on Wednesday said the present tie-up between his party and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagan, whose leader J Jayalalitha was convicted to three years rigorous imprisonment in the Tamil Nadu Small Industries Corporation land deal case recently, would continue.

Talking to newspersons in Madurai, Elangovan said that the Congress would react only after the final verdict in the case was delivered.

To a question on whether the Congress would form a separate front minus the two Dravidian parties, he said any decision in this regard could be taken only by the party high command, based on the final verdict.

He condemned the state government for arresting thousands of AIADMK workers, including party presidium chairman K Kalimuthu. He demanded that the Tamil Nadu government release them immediately.
