Intrusion bid foiled, two hardcore militants killed in Jammu

Army troops have foiled an intrusion bid by militants in Rajouri sector, while two hardcore militants were killed and two injured in an encounter in Surankote area of Poonch district in Jammu division since Wednesday, official sources said in Jammu on Thursday.

On sighting two intruders sneaking into the Indian territory via Chandidhar fort area of Rajouri sector, the troops challenged them.

The intruders initially hid themselves and, later, again started moving towards the forward post, the sources said, adding that the troops illuminated the area with tracers and fired to which the militants retaliated.

As the exchange of fire was on, Pakistani troops also fired on the post and, in the process, the intruders managed to flee towards the Pakistani side, the sources said.

Reports from Poonch said two militants were gunned down and two others injured in an encounter with security forces at Pattan in Surankote tehsil.
