London cardiac specialist attends to Maran

A cardiac specialist from London arrived in Madras Thursday to attend on Union Industry Minister Murasoli Maran, whose condition continued to remain critical, sources at Apollo Hospital said.

Dr Ulrich Sigwart from the Department of Invasive Cardiology of the Royal Brompton Hospital, London, met the hospital chairman, Dr Pratap C Reddy, for a few minutes before attending on Maran.

A bulletin issued by the hospital said Maran, who had been suffering from severe diastolic left ventricular dysfunction, was being continuously monitored by a panel of experts.

All parameters, such as arterial blood pressure, arterial oxygen saturation and urinary output were satisfactory, the bulletin said.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi is in the hospital since morning. Union Minister N Ramachandran also visited the hospital and inquired about Maran's health.
