Indefinite curfew clamped in Imphal

An indefinite curfew was clamped Friday in Imphal and Greater Imphal areas in Manipur following Thursday's incident in which 10 persons were killed during an exchange of fire between Assam Rifles personnel and armed ultras, official sources said.

Sources said the government clamped curfew after it received reports that there was a likelihood of breach of peace and that there was grave danger to human lives and property in the two districts.

Security measures have been tightened in the two districts.

Police personnel were seen Friday morning moving around with public address systems asking people to remain indoors.

Meanwhile, bodies of all the 10 persons, including a woman, killed in Thursday's incident are lying at the Regional Institute of Medical Science Hospital.
