Message: Clinton legalising a dictator is not a good sign.
However real solution in Kashmir depends on ...
This Article 370 being scraped, and a population balance with millions settling in that state will scuttle TSPs aims from under it. Sorry! their is no validity of Jinhas "muslim majority regions to be Independent" concept ,what is implied by "Peoples participation" , after all there are more muslims in India than in Pakistan.
China is doing something very similar in their south western province which has uggar problems. Pakistan has done this in POK, by settling ex-army and afghans etc there. India darn well needs to do this. ASAP! So IMO resettlements of people from India in Kashmir. Reversing what TSP has been doing "killing/chasing out non-Muslims & non-TSP supporting Muslims"
That is the bulk of Kashmir solution.

Message: China objected to Clinton's stopover at some south asian country. Any visit to China should be a exclusive visit to it. It was acceded to. Clinton's stop over to Pak is not to ignore India's interests. Even during visit, if the Kashmir issue is not brought before Cllinton's decision, it means that it should be decided bilaterally.

At least he had realism in mind when he decided to make a stopover in pakistan when he goes back.
our international relations experts are at present used to lobbying on non issues like clintons pak visit which is not a way for diplomacy to work
also we have never been concerned about democracy in china or russia to be bothered about the same in pakistan
i feel we should maintain channels of communication overt and covert in todays world and learn from usa where they have only one interest in mind, i.e theirs

Message: Well Done Mr. Clinton. You have shown the world that USA is no super power & no one needs to get scared of it. The president of US can be easily be bullied into visiting a country run by mavericks like Musharraf by giving veiled threats of increased voilence & terrorist activities if he doesn't visit Pakistan.
Why does Clinton want the Indian Govt. to talk to such ruffians on Kashmir ? Has he forgotten what these people did in Kargil when our PM had gone all the way to Pakistan in a bus to have friendly relationship & lasting peace. Please stop preaching India about what it has to do. GO and tell your former friends to behave themselves otherwise they going to get a befitting reply from India. Tell Pakis not to test the Indian patience for long. We can't keep quiet always & let the Pakis ruin us. We are not scared of a Nuclear war if things come to that.

back for India. India has been able to solve its political matters on its own. Today, only one thing can be said that we don't have great leaders as we had during Independence of our country. Our government is spending so lavishly for Clintons visit, at the end who will be suffering the 'comman man' and that too with no solutions to our problem.

Message: POost cold war and, well, to be more contemporary, post Kargil, Clinton's visit to India should be one to build bridges. But it might not happen that way. First off, we are being visited by an outgoing President whose policy can undergo a major change once the new Boss takes over. So what are we harping about. And if we expect Clinton to say India is my best buddy in these parts, we shld rather be prepared for a lecture on LOC and relations with Pakistan. His stopover at Pakistan, albeit for 4 hrs., clearly indicates the US aspirations in this area and their perceived need to keep both of them on their toes guessing on the next shift in their stance. Sadly both us as well as the Pakis always behave the same way as Pavlov's experimental animals.

Message: Bharat is making a grave error in inviting Clinton to visit Bharat:
1.This man is a Southern Baptist and belongs to that church which in turn believes that Hindus have darkness in their hearts and are unlikely to go to heaven(as a Hindu I wouldn't want to be there if any of these people were to be my neighbours.
2.Why millions on wining and dining a lame duck president. There is much better use for our resources.
3.For this man to visit Pakiterroristhan at almost the same time is tantamount to treating the two countries on par and at the same level. Every Hindu (and some Italians and half Italians who shall remain nameless)should feel insulted by this man's action.
4.The only purpose of this man's visit to Bharat is obtain maximum benefit for his country and to enhance his name in the history books after the shameless and immoral behaviour during his presidency.
5.Wht does Bharat have to put up with the scam described as Globalisation which is nothing but a scam to hand over control over the world economy to one or two ethnic groups and obliterate sovereign nations in the world.
6.Tuesday evening(March9/2000) the newscaster at CBS news said "Clinton is going to Pakistan because China wants him to. Clinton has sold not only his country's but also many other countries' interest to China for a few million dollars worth of campaign fund donations. Do we really need this poor specimen of human being to set foot on Bharat Bhoomi? For any self respecting Hindu the answer is a resounding NO.

Why Clinton is going Pakisthan first.
To just please PAK or to unplease INDIA.
OR to ask those issues from Gen. Mushref on which PAK is agree but not INDIA.
So those issues will be compared between these two nations.

Message:I personally feel that it is not in India's interest to oppose the President's visit to Pakistan. If Pakistan gets more and more isolated from the world and end up as Afghanistan, India will be the one to pay for it. India should work with America in making Pakistan a jihad free country. Pakistan is our neighbour and we like it or not, we have to live with it. It would be in India's interest to help the saner elements in Pakistan and Clinton's trip to Pakistan will help us in the long run.
America always puts its Interest first, it has no intentions of helping India or Pakistan. America is eyeing our huge middle class and India has everything to gain by working with America on Trade issues. India is set to become an IT super power, and we need the help of America to achieve that. I feel that this trip will bring a turnabout in Indo-US ties as it did for China during the Nixon visit to China. It is high time we shed the Non-Alignment crap and come to the real world.
In conclusion we have everything to gain by working with the World's only Superpower. When a Communist country like China can have so much trade with America, why can't we do the same thing. The CPI(M) and CPI morons should learn from their Communist brothers in the north.

Message: I think the Clinton visit has the potential of
making the relations between India and itself very strong
I see this visit as more of the US governments
endorsement of transactions with India and snubbing
the Chinese. Now the Chinese are more
aware that the West supports democracy
and therefore would be sceptical of poking its nose into
Indias affairs. After all who are the Chinese to
advise the US on the issue of India signing the CTBT.
I see this visit of Clinton as an
endorsement of India over China. And I guess we
should capitalise on it.

Message: It is great news that finally America is realising importance of India as a country which it can't ignore in the post cold war era & in this world of global economy. It is our turn to reflect this by showing traditional hospitality to Americans and giving American president a very warm welcome.
Both America and India share firm belief in values of democracy which is arguably one of the biggest political achievement of human race.
While the question of delicate security situation in South east asia should be one of our focus during this trip, I think Americans will be very interested in opening up of Indian markets to American businesses like insurance, Airlines, manufacturing and distribution.
USA can provide us with invaluable assistance in infrastructure setup like roads, telecommunication backbone and satellite communications. Almost all important US companies like GE, Ford, GM, IBM, MS have offices in India though to a very small scale than what India deserves. This is because of state controlled restrictive economy build around bureaucracy and govermentization of every aspect of Indian economy by last 40 yrs of congress rule. It is great to see that NDA is talking of privatisation of many sectors where US can provide invaluable investment, assistance which will benefit both to US and India.
I hope this millenium tour of one of the most dynamic American president who has take American to an era of unprecedented economic prosperity and budget surplus lays foundation to a partnership between India and US where we are allies both economically and politically and help eachother in our mutual interest.
India has to think big and act according to its potential and size and realise that we have a lot to learn from US especially economically. If India can become an Economic super power in next few years, political respect and support in world stage will automatically follow and problems wi

Asking various people about the visit, about his visit to Pakistan and how India will be made proud by his longer stay in India is just too much. So many dignitaries come and go and as a nation we should accord them good reception. But spending too much of time analysing a person's visit is really ridiculous as if it is Jesus Christ reborn again. Excessive flattery will only make the other nations
look down on us. Let us learn to be proud of our nation and try to highlight on what US will gain from us through this visit rather than always making us look like a country with the receiving end.

It is a long way for India and America to move towards a strategic partnership as If things dont go the American way India might end up as another pakistan in near future.
India is in Asia and forging better relationships with its Asian neighbours like China and Russia would be one of the best solutions.
Even if India were to move towards America, American think tank would still doubt Indian people perception vi-a-vis Russia and also the indifferent attitude that has been existing for the last 3 or more decades.
India with this gesture of inviting US president and its business might be balancing the China factor but only time can tell how good this will turn out.
Also with this kind of trip US has only to gain and nothing to lose where as India may end up having another British friend at its door steps.
Also India and its leaders should not overlook the Japan factor while dealing with US.
It is true that American investment will be a shoot in the arm for India but it would be good if Indian economist try to make India an Asian Giant in trading sector with its own abilities than depending on the western dollar for its survival and growth.

Maybe because I've been raised in an all white city, and have mostly white friends...but white women (at least to me and many indian friends) are nasty...They tend to be fatter, sleep around alot...and well, are not as attractive as goodlooking northern indian girls. This has been a policy of Mr. Clinton to talk on both sides and try to justify his stand saying it in American interest.
How come Mr. Clinton's visit comes at a time when his term is going to end shortly ?.
As the preparations for his visit go the question arises is why so of importance to a visit which looks more to be of private holiday tour?.
Overall the bottomline is US policy of keeping India and Pakistan engaged as long its Interests are safe !

Message: It is time India gives up its Pakistan fixation even while we are insisting that US gives up Pakistan fixation. One has to understand events in their true perspectives instead of always looking at things in a very narrow angle. It is good that US is discovering Bangla Desh. We should not react that once again US is trying to find a counter weight in Bangla Desh. Clinton is visting the subcontinent with his own agenda and his visit will bring couple of billions of US Dollars of investments. If we are smart, we must make sure that this is money is channellised into areas where we will benefit.
