E-Mail this report to a friend

Four persons were injured in an explosion at a running suburban local between the Marine Lines and Charni Road stations in Bombay this evening, Western Railway sources said.

The Byculla railway police control room said the explosion took place at about 8:54 pm.

The impact was tremendous, sources said, claiming it had left a hole on the roof of the 890C local running from Virar to Churchgate. Senior Bombay police officials as well as railway police officials have rushed to the site.

Sources said the injured have been rushed to a railway hospital and they are reported to have received minor injuries. Security has been further tightened though although beefed up in preparation of US President Bill Clinton to this city on March 24.
