E-Mail this report to a friend

Two children were burnt alive while several others were injured in Holi-related incidents today.

Two children were killed at Chunna Bhatti in Darbhanga district of Bihar when their house caught fire during 'Holika dahan last night, the police said. Many people were also injured in group clashes at Loam and Gariya villages in the district.

Twelve people were injured in a clash in Madhavpur village in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. Fifty-five people were taken into custody for disturbing the peace.

Five policemen were injured in a clash with revellers at Ramanagara in Karnataka while two inebriated men were hurt when they challenged the police in Howrah, West Bengal. The day passed off peacefully elsewhere.

The daughter and mother-in-law of visiting US President Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton and Dorothy Rodham, joined the family of Maharaja Gaj Singh at their Umed Bhavan palace in Jodhpur, adding colour to an otherwise staid diplomatic tour.
