Dasari gets Congress ticket for RS

Noted Telugu film director Dasari Narayana Rao, who has been given a Congress ticket for the Rajya Sabha polls from Andhra Pradesh, says that he would work for the upliftment of weaker sections as well as to strengthen the Congress in Andhra Pradesh.

In an informal chat with the media after the announcement of his candidature for the Rajya Sabha polls, Dasari said, "With this nomination, my responsibility has increased. I cannot make any commitments immediately but I will try to do justice to the weaker sections and do everything to rejuvenate the party."

"In the film field, too, I have been highlighting the sufferings of the masses. I will do my best for their upliftment," he said.

He said that "the film industry is at the crossroads today. I will use my good offices as Rajya Sabha member and try to help the industry."
