E-Mail this report to a friend

Rabri Devi has convened the Bihar assembly for two days from March 15 to seek a vote of confidence in her government and to clear the financial obligations.

At a cabinet meeting in Patna last night, attended by the chief minister and the lone state parliamentary affairs minister Ramchandra Purve, it was decided to call the state legislative council for a day on March 22 to adopt the financial bills.

Purve said the vote of confidence would be placed by the chief minister in the pre-lunch session of the state assembly on March 16.

He said on March 15 the government would table the vote on account for the first quarter of 2000-2001 and would place the third supplementary budget for the year 1999-2000. The debate on the third supplementary and related appropriation bill would be taken up the next day.
