SGPC chief told to appear before Akal Thakt

Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Puran Singh today directed Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandik Committee president Bibi Jagir Kaur to appear before the Akal Takht tomorrow.

''For your re-induction into the Sikh 'Panth' from which you were ex-communicated, you shall appear before the Akal Takht at 1100 IST tomorrow and ask for forgiveness,'' the directive signed by Giani Puran Singh and addressed to Bibi Jagir Kaur said.

According to 'Sant Samaj' leader Baba Kashmira Singh, who played a mediatory role to end the month-long Takht-SGPC conflict, Bibi Jagir Kaur had consented to appear before the Takht and atone for her misadventure of having defied the 'Nanakshahi' calendar.

The SGPC president's personal assistant Harjit Singh today delivered the jathedar's letter to Bibi Jagir Kaur.
