Syed Amin Jafri in Hyderabad

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has ordered a CB-CID probe into the suicide by an intermediate first-year student due to ragging by his seniors at a residential college at Guntur.

Expressing his shock over the death of the student, the chief minister termed the incident as "barbaric" and asked the CB-CID to conduct a probe.

The victim, Chellanki Kedarnath (aged 15 years), returned to his village Chinarangapalem in West Godavari district on Saturday night, after he was subjected to ragging by his seniors at a residential college in Guntur.

At the Bhimavaram railway station, he consumed pesticide and went home. He complained to his parents that his seniors were forcing him to eat left-overs at the mess. As his condition deteriorated, the family members shifted him to a hospital where he died in the early hours of Sunday.
