3 Naxals killed in attack police station in Gadchiroli

Three Naxalites were killed in an encounter with the police when they attacked a police station in large numbers, late last night.

A policeman and six civilians were injured in the encounter in which 100-odd Naxalites were involved. The incident took place at Aashal police station in Gadchiroli district, on the Maharashtra- Madhya Pradesh border, around 0100 hrs.

Patrolling had been intensified in the border areas of Bastar district in view of the attack and the Madhya Pradesh police was maintaining close contact with its Maharashtra counterpart.

Senior Maharashtra police officials reached the spot soon after receiving the information.
