NDA allies reject demand for Rule 184

E-Mail this report to a friend

The National Democratic Alliance constituents today categorically rejected the Opposition's demand to discuss the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh issue under Rule 184.

This stand was taken at a meeting convened by Prime Minister A B Vajpayee in New Delhi this morning. Home Minister L K Advani and Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha, besides leaders of all the NDA constituents, were present at the meeting which lasted half an hour.

Telugu Desam Party leader Yerran Naidu said, "There is no change in the stand. Our stand is clear, we want to discuss the issue under Rule 193.''

The Opposition had stalled normal proceedings of the Lok Sabha last week demanding discussion on the Gujarat government's decision to allow its employees to associate with RSS activities.
