Ranvir Sena kills 25 in Bihar

E-Mail this report to a friend

At least 25 people were gunned down and 19 others were injured by outlaws of the banned Ranvir Sena at Miapur village in the extremist affected district late last night.

All the deceased belonged to a backward class.

According to the police, armed Sena men attacked the village and shot dead 25 people. Nineteen were injured.

The outlaws escaped after the operation.

State director general of police K A Jacob said senior police officials have gone to the spot.

State home commissioner U N Panjiyar said that 10 of the injured were admitted to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College Hospital, while nine others were undergoing treatment at a local hospital.

Panjiyar said that area was inaccessible and far away from Aurangabad district.

He said the district administration in Jehanabad and Gaya had been alerted, as the assailants were believed to have escaped there.

The districts have been sealed and massive raids are on to nab the extremists, police said.

The killing was probably in retaliation against the Senari massacre, in which 34 people were killed and five injured. The attack was by the banned People's War Group at Senari, in Jehanabad district on March 18 last year.

On June 3, five people of a backward class were killed at Rajebeigha village in Nawada district.

In retaliation, 12 people were gunned down at Atsar in Nawada district on June 11.
